Center for Agricultural Science and Heritage. Description: Ter Horst, Lamson & Fisk, Inc. provided structural and civil engineering design services for the relocation of the Normandy Farms Barn to a prominent location near the 38th Street entrance of the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Center For Agricultural Science and Heritage project was done in association with the Indiana State Fairgrounds Commission, and consisted of reconstructing the 1800's vintage barn on a permanent foundation and renovation of the structure into a configuration more conducive to the functional programming required for the facility. The facility is used year round by the Center For Agricultural Science and Heritage and contains lobby areas, common areas, offices, space for educational programs, an auditorium with a stage and seating for ninety people and new circulation stairs and an elevator for accessibilty.
  • The barn was reconstructed using as many of the original building components as possible. Where elements were damaged or missing, replacement members were fabricated and installed using comparable materials and methods.
  • The reconfigured barn has 10,500 s.f. of floor space with a full ground floor, full second floor and partial mezzanine.
  • Site improvements included parking lots, drives, sidewalks and extension of site utilities.
