Multi-sport athletic courts with suspended running track. Description: Ter Horst, Lamson & Fisk, Inc. provided structural and civil engineering design services for a new recreational sports facility for the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. The project consisted of a 66,000 s.f., two story building containing three full length basketball courts, a multi-sport court, locker rooms, activity rooms, office space and support facilities for the teaching staff.

  • Two-story steel framed structure with a full basement.
  • Structural frame utilizing 112' long span steel trusses across the gymnasium and includes a running track suspended form the roof.
  • Site improvements included parking, drives, sidewalks, landscaping and extension of site utilities.
  • The facility opened in early 1998 with a construction cost of $6.6 million.
